Filmmaker George Stanley Nsamba, popularly known as Nes, has landed a mega production deal.
Famed for addressing social issues in his movie projects that even saw him receive recognition in several movie festivals across the globe, Nes is at it again. He has now teamed up with Indian actor Neeraj Vishwakarma to produce two short films and further pave way for future collaborations between Ugandan and Indian film industries.
According to Nes, Neeraj will star in his short film dubbed “The Last Life” about an inter-racial couple struggling with the cancer pandemic. The two will also work on another film dubbed “Stigma & Society” which is an 8-minute short film about an 11-year-old girl who is born HIV positive but is driven to commit suicide over stigmatization.
“We have agreed to a production deal with Indian actor Neeraj for the production of two short films about social issues. Neeraj has also talked to investors in India and they are willing to form partnerships with us where we shall do exchange programs, festivals and co-productions together. The Indian High Commission in Uganda has welcomed the suggestion and my films will be the very first in this partnership,” Nes revealed.
Meanwhile, a cancer campaign dubbed Stop Cancer Uganda run by The Ghetto Film Project will follow after the “The Last Life” premiere, targeting mostly breast cancer awareness among women in the ghetto.
