The Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has received a quality Certificate from world football governing body, FIFA, permitting the official use of Phillip Omondi stadium, Lugogo. The stadium had been out of use for quite some time as artificial turf was being laid on.
Despite the completion of the project earlier on, the Lugogo based ground remained out of bounds for official use pending a quality certificate from FIFA.
According to FUFA CEO Edgar Watson, the certificate was signed by FIFA president Gianni Infantino and has been given reg. no. AG6272.1. “The artificial turf ground at Lugogo has been cleared to host matches for four years implying the certificate will expire in 2020. KCCA and other football entities can now use the stadium because it fulfills the required international standards,” Watson told the media on Wednesday.
Currently, Omondi stadium is receiving final touches in the parking lot and pavements as KCCA FC prepares to shift from Nakivubo where they were hosting all their home games last season.
