The umbrella organization for all Ugandan artists has come out to claim the 400 million shillings given to the artists by the President at the recently held Tubonga Nawe dinner.
The body which held a meeting yesterday at the National Theatre called up the president of the body to find ways to amicably distribute and also address issues surrounding the President gift money.
The body insists that the money should go to the artist SACCO, which is the financial institution of the body.
“The main aim is not the money but to help the artists who are applicable to get the loan if he’s registered. This money belongs to artists not anyone else,” said Andrew Benon Kibuuka.
It’s not the first time that artists are getting money from the president as most people think.
“The president first pledged 400million at Namboole, so this is not the first time we are getting money from the president,” Benon added.
