Uganda Cranes player maker and Vipers’ on-loan star to Standard Liege, Farouk Miya lifted his first trophy with the Belgian topflight side on Sunday after they won the Belgium Cup.
The 19-year old didn’t take part in the game but was on the bench as Standard Liege pipped the defending champions Club Brugge 2-1 in Sunday’s final.
The victory not only gave his side their first silverware in the annual competition since 2011 but also earned them direct ticket to next season’s UEFA Europa League after missing out on the playoffs a week earlier.
Miya is part of the Cranes 30-man squad that coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic summoned for the teams back-to-back clash against Burkina Faso in the 2017 AFCON qualifiers due 26th and 29th March, 2016 in Ouagadougou and in Kampala respectively.
