Friends and fans in conjunction with the Elly Wamala estate have announced plans to commemorate the veteran singer and music icon who passed on 10 years back in a mega All-star tribute concert. The concert slated for 12th December at Serena Hotel, Kampala will be supported by Nile Special.
“Over the time period of this project, we have worked with the biggest contemporary music producers and artistes in Uganda. This is a celebration of Wamala’s lifelong commitment to knowledge gathering and sharing, which, he mainly did through his songs,” Ms. Lydia Wamala, daughter to the late singer said.
Timothy Kayondo, Nile Special brand manager added that, “the concert is a toast to a true champion. Elly Wamala was a musician of distinguished qualities, a fact that earned him several awards during his career. This resonates well with Nile Special. The brand has also won several international awards over the period of 50-years.”
Several top Ugandan musicians have been lined up to perform at the Elly Wamala tribute concert. They include; Afrigo band, Radio & Weasel, Mesach Semakula, Irene Namubiru, Bobi Wine, Irene Ntale, Pr. Wilson Bugembe, Rema among others.
Tickets are going for 100K Ugx – individuals and 2M Ugx – a table. See you there.
