The eagerly awaited duel between Express FC and league reigning champions Vipers SC has been cancelled.
The match was scheduled to take place today at Muteesa II Memorial stadium, Wankulukuku but has now been called off according to a communication from the Uganda Premier League secretariat.
The reason for the postponement of these games is the unavailability of players that were part of the Uganda Cranes squad that brought the CECAFA title home after beating Rwanda 1-0 over the weekend in Ethiopia.
“The Uganda Premier League secretariat is in receipt of a communication from the Federation informing us that the national team players are still held for national duty and will not be available until Wednesday 9th December 2015. Accordingly, the following fixtures – Express vs Vipers, URA vs KCCA and Bright Stars vs Maroons have been postponed and the new dates will be communicated later,” reads the league secretariat communication.
Bright Stars F.C has goalkeeper Mathias Kigonya and defenders Joseph Nsubuga and Benard Muwanga.
KCCA F.C has Denis Okot, Muzamiru Mutyaba, Ivan Ntege, Joseph Ochaya, Nelson Senkatuka while Vipers has six players that include; Farouk Miya, Erisa Ssekisambu, Kezironi Kizito and the two goal keepers in Ismail Watenga and James Alitho.
The following fixtures will however go on as scheduled:
SCVU vs. JMC Hipos – Namboole
Bul FC vs. The Saints – Kakindu
SC Villa vs. Simba – Nakivubo
Soana vs. Sadolin Paints – Kavumba
