Express FC aka ‘Mukwano gwa bangi’ were once again on fire yesterday as they thumped Jinja based side Sadolin Paints 4-0 at Muteesa II Memorial stadium in Wankulukuku. Despite losing almost half of their starting team in the January transfer window, the Red Eagles still showed that they still have a legacy to protect.
The old boy Noah Ssemakula who recently rejoined the Wankulukuku camp from URA opened the scoring with a strike in the 35th minute to give his side a half-time lead. Tony Odur genuinely took his chance from 12 yards to double the lead for the home team after Ronald Lukungu handled the ball in the forbidden area.
Simon Sserunkuma who also recently returned to the club from Tanzanian side Simba hammered the last nail into Sadolin’s coffin while Yaffesi Mubiru buried them with the fourth goal of the evening. The win left Express in fourth place on the table with 26 points while Sadolin Paints remain eleventh with 21 points.
Elsewhere, Soana FC shared the spoils with army side Simba SC in a six goal thriller at Kavumba Recreational Stadium in Wakiso. In the Jinja derby at Kakindu Stadium, BUL F.C and league debutants Jinja Municipal Council (JMC Hippos) settled for a 1-1 draw. The visitors JMC Hippos took the lead through Mustapha Mugoya in the 9th minute while Yunus Sibira leveled matters for the Alex Isabirye-coached side in the second stanza after 74 minutes.
