Experts in the Uganda film Industry last Friday were on a panel of speakers at the first ever Business Summit for Women in Film organized by Tassles Films at National Theatre. Among the speakers who are also players in the Film Industry included Mariam Ndagire, Nana Kagga and Eleanor Nabwiso among others.

Speaking at the Summit that was mostly attended by Women in Film and a few men, Eleanor Nabwiso tipped women on branding and marketing if they want their works to reach places. “As Nabwiso Films, the only way we have managed to sell our Films in places like England is because of the love for quality work and marketing that we put it”’ Nabwiso said. She went on to say that instead of very many films, one can focus on producing just a few and to achieve all these, one has to have good marketing skills like using the different media platforms to make people know about your works.
Mariam Ndagire who is a singer, actress, producer and writer said that one of the best aspect of making it in film business is skilling. She talked of the need of Government bodies like the National Cultural Forum headed by Ragga Dee to come in and put up film schools that can skill the next generation or the already involved players. ‘’Many people are in film but they are not sure what exactly they want to do and this is a very big problem in the film industry” Ndagire said.
Nana Kagga said that becoming a good player in the Film Industry starts with being Professional. “once one is professional and has a vision of what they want to achieve then it is the first stage on becoming good at the Film Industry’’ Kagga concluded.
