Equity Bank Uganda has contributed UGX 30 million towards the national Martyrs Choral Festival, the first major event in the Uganda Martyrs celebrations calendar, organized by Vision Group.

“We are proud to partner with Vision Group by contributing UGX 30 million to the Martyrs Choral Festival. This celebration of the Uganda Martyrs is a beautiful expression of faith, culture, and community. We are honoured to support this festival that brings people together through the power of music,” the bank said in a statement on X(formerly Twitter).

Claire Tumwesigye, Head of Marketing at Equity Bank Uganda, officially handed over the contribution during a ceremony held on Friday at the Vision Group headquarters in Industrial Area, Kampala.

The festival is geared towards promoting unity, conversation, and cooperation among different Christian communities. The festival brings together people from different church groups to enjoy and celebrate Uganda’s rich Christian musical traditions.

The festival features two main categories: Anglican and Catholic choirs. Each choir is required to perform three types of songs: a traditional religious folk song, a set piece, and an original composition.

This is the second time the Martyrs choral festival is being held. It will feature six Christian choirs—three from each denomination. The choirs will perform songs that celebrate Uganda’s Christian heritage, which is an important part of the Martyrs’ Day celebrations.
