Uganda Authorities, Diplomatic Corp, international civil society organizations, Italian community, representatives of Ugandan culture were some of the people that took part in the Italian Culture week.

The Italian Cultural and Culinary week commemorates and seeks to celebrate the Italian culture as well as their achievements as a nation as they teach people about Italy and its cultures.

Italy is one of the backbones of the European economy and Emirates flies to four destinations in the country. The Emirates A380 flies to Bologna, Milan, Rome and Venice.

The Italian Embassy encouraged Ugandan travelers to visit cities like Venice which is effortlessly magical and romantic with palazzo-lined canals, bridges, maze-like side streets and singing gondoliers.

“Emirates is proud to be associated with the Italian community in Uganda. Italy is one of over 81 countries that Emirates flies to across the world. Ugandans and the Italian community can enjoy travels to Italian cities such as Bologna, Venice, Rome and Milan with a convenient stop in Dubai.” Said Mohammad Al Attar, the Emirates country manager.

Travelers were encouraged to visit Bologna to experience a buzzy university town with energy to burn, architectural masterpieces and some of Italy’s best food.

Among other cities, include Rome, also known as the Eternal City, home to some of Europe’s most iconic sights, including the Pantheon, the Colosseum and the Sistine Chapel. Rome is also where you’ll find some of the best restaurants in Italy, be they Michelin-starred or simple hole-in- the-wall osterias (casual cafes).

A tour of Milan, the fashion capital of Italy, would include a trip to the designer boutiques in the Quadrilatero d’Oro (Fashion Quadrangle). Art and culture lovers are well-catered for too – Milan is home to the world-famous La Scala Opera House and Leonardo da Vinci’s ‘The Last Supper’, which is housed in the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie.

The Italian ambassador to Uganda, H.E Domenico Fornara applauded the support that had been accorded by Emirates.

“We are grateful for the partnership and support we have received from Emirates. They offered air tickets to fly in the guests of honor from Italy.” Said H.E Domenico.
