Elly Wamala Family Sues Ugandan Musicians

The family of the late singer, Elly Wamala is petitioning the Uganda Performing Rights Society accusing local artistes of ‘stealing’ his music. Several artistes have sampled the late singer’s songs without authorization. It takes in artistes like Pony Tail and Don Mc Kapata who remixed “Ebinyumo” and GNL Zamba.
Elly Wamala died when he was 69 years old in Mulago Hospital where after battling Diabetes and Intestinal Cancer.
He is known for many songs most outstanding being Nkole Mpakase, Sacramento,’Kaama Katono, Nga Bwekolanga, Ebinyumu Ebyaffe and Boda Boda.’

Elly Wamala was buried in Mugongo, Kyengera.
