Eden Hazard set to become Chelsea’s highest paid player

Eden Hazard

Chelsea are close to making Eden Hazard their highest-paid player after offering the Belgium international a new £200,000-a-week, five-year contract – double his current weekly salary.

Negotiations between Hazard’s lawyer and Blues bosses are at an advanced stage, with the 23-year-old expected to put pen to paper on his new big-money deal within the next few weeks, according to The Mail.

The Belgian’s new contract will be worth about £10million over the next five years, and has been offered to the player in a bid to ward off interest from suitors Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.

Hazard joined Chelsea from French side Lille for £32million in 2012 after some impressive displays for Les Dogues in Ligue 1.

The winger has since gone on to become an important component of The Blues’ team – and was named the club’s player of the year last season.
