Living music legend, Eddy Yawe, has given Ugandan musicians tricks on how to win in music and stay relevant long after the have released their music.
Speaking in an interview, Yawe said that most Ugandan musicians have a problem of releasing one song after another looking for a hit and in the end they lose the bigger picture of producing quality songs that will outlive them.
He then shared his tricks to quality music in his capacity as a music producer and singer.
‘When you put a lot of work in your music it becomes mature. Bubble gum music will not take you anywhere. That is why people who release new songs every day without putting in enough time will keep suffering. Take your time in studio, God spent 7 days creating, he took his time. Music has to be prepared for a good time so that you release something that will stay,’ he commented.
He then gave an example of his brother who takes time in studio, releases one song at a time but the song remains relevant long after it’s release.
‘Bobi Wine is a music legend. He is not on one side of music. He has a song that he released called Specioza, he is coming towards our kind of music. His music will live on because he takes time to make it.’
