Previously referred to as Nakivubo War Memorial stadium and now called Ham’s Stadium Nakivubo is expected to be commissioned by His excellence HE President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni very soon after going through series of state of the art modern renovations.
The stadium of 20,000 seater capacity will have multi-level parking able to accommodate over 1,000 cars on top of other amenities like restaurants, and other facilities for people with disabilities (PWDs).
Hamis Kiggundu has held fort and moved against all odds to deliver what is now a magnificent landmark in Uganda’s sports sector in the centre of down town Kampala.
Renowned singer and UNMF president Eddy Kenzo visited the grounds yesterday and commended Hamis Kiggundu for the work he has done for the sports fraternity and Uganda at large.
In his Facebook post, Eddy Kenzo recalls his early childhood as a street boy in Nakivubo where he used to vendor mineral water and food stuffs to fans who attended football games and other events at the memorial stadium.
Kenzo adds that Ugandans should collectively appreciate Hamis Kiggundu for his selflessness and patriotism because he has rebuilt the stadium to the highest standard that can be admired by everyone.
He added he can’t wait for the official opening.
