Ugandan music superstar and Big Talent boss Eddy Kenzo has fired back at a group of music promoters who recently announced a ban on him, saying he is not shaken and is ready to organize his own shows if they choose not to work with him.

This comes after a group of promoters, led by events organizer Abtex, claimed that Kenzo has hindered their access to President Museveni and played a role in excluding them from the UGX 33 billion government funding meant for the creative industry.
The promoters declared they would no longer allow the Sitya Loss singer to perform at their events.
Reacting to the claims, Kenzo said he only learned about the ban through social media and was never officially informed.
“I heard them and I have seen some but I don’t know how to respond to them. I have an office and I wasn’t notified about the ban, I read and saw everything on social media like everyone else,” Kenzo said.
He went on to express doubt over the seriousness of the move, saying he believes Abtex might just be joking.
“I think Abtex is joking about the ban thing because I can’t think of a sensible reason and way how he as a promoter can ban me from singing on stage.”
Despite the controversy, Kenzo maintains he will not stop working and already has upcoming performances lined up.
“I won’t stop working because even right now I have gigs. I’ll organize myself if they don’t want to. I can’t stop them from doing what they want.”
Kenzo, who also serves as the president of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), has recently been at the center of tensions between creatives and the government, particularly around access to funding and the role of industry leadership.
