Ugandan music has gone beyond our borders and is enjoying airplay world over. This was confirmed by Congolese star Awilo Longomba during a press briefing held at the Kampala Serena Hotel on Wednesday evening.
The singer who was responding to a question from the media on how Ugandan musicians can also emulate his success was quick to note that Ugandan singers like Eddy Kenzo and Jose Chameleone are already international stars, before adding that he has heard Ugandan music playing in other countries.
“Your musicians like Eddy Kenzo and Jose Chameleone are already international stars. I have previously shared big stages with them abroad where other famous musicians are performing.” Awilo revealed.
“I have always heard Ugandan music playing everywhere I go. When I was invited to Nigeria recently, Ugandan music was being played a lot. It is not only in Nigeria, even other countries when I have been invited to perform,” he added.
Famous for songs like like “Rosalina”, “Coupe Bibamba” and “Karoline” among others, Awilo Longomba is in the country for the “Awilo Live in Kampala” show which is slated for this Friday at the Kampala Serena Hotel. He jetted in with his entire band and promises an energetic show.
