DStv subscribers are in for a treat come the 10th of June 2016 as the countdown of the Euro 2016 tournament has officially begun. DStv subscribers will be taken on a whirlwind television viewing journey to France to witness Europe’s greatest footballing nation’s battle as they tussle it out for the quadrennial UEFA Euro 2016 championship title.

(L-R) MultiChoice Uganda, General Manager Charles Hamya, DStv Sales Manager John Kiryowa, DStv Marketing Manager Phoebe Nakabazzi and MultiChoice PR & Communications Manager Tina Wamala officially unveil the Euro 2016 tournament which will be available on SuperSport 3 (DStv channel 223) and SuperSport 4 (DStv channel 204) and on SuperSport 11 (DStv channel 211) and SuperSport 12 (DStv channel 212) for DStv Compact subscribers.

The question looming is, can Spain make a hat-trick victory after winning twice in 2008 and 2012, to be declared European champions again?

Speaking at the press launch at Riders Bar, Phoebe Nakabazzi, DStv Uganda Marketing Manager said, “If you thought the wealth of first rate football was wrapping up on the World of Champions you are wrong. SuperSport will exclusively broadcast all 51 games played by the 24 teams in France throughout the tournament. The best part of it is that our DStv compact subscribers will also be in on the action, as the tournament will also be broadcast on the bouquet.

The Euro 2016 matches will be available on SuperSport 3 (DStv channel 223) and SuperSport 4 (DStv channel 204) and on SuperSport 11 (DStv channel 211) and SuperSport 12 (DStv channel 212) for DStv Compact subscribers.

This will be the third time that France hosts the tournament, after the inaugural tournament in 1960 and the 1984 finals. The French team has won the European Championship twice: in 1984 and 2000. Spain is the tournament’s current defending champions which won in 2012.

Nakabazzi added, “To make this tournament even more exciting for fans, we have launched a promotion where subscribers will win viewing parties courtesy of DStv for either new acquisitions or renewal of their subscription on compact and above for two months or longer this period. The viewing parties will give fans a chance to host 19 of their friends at their homes, with the up and coming artist, making a special appearance at all the parties. Up to 6 viewing parties will be held throughout the tournament with other smaller prizes up for grabs for runner’s ups and DStv will cover all the costs!”

Charles Hamya, General Manager MultiChoice Uganda boasted, “It is only on SuperSport that you can truly see the greatest of soccer players. SuperSport is the home of champions and there is no tournament that is as exciting as this one. The matches will be at favorable times during the day, that won’t be an inconvenience to our subscribers.  We are delighted that once again DStv will lead the way in offering Ugandan audiences comprehensive live football action from the Euro tournament! New subscribers still have a chance to exploit our hardware subsidy of UGX 130,000 full kit including one month on compact and enjoy this tournament.”

This year’s tournament will include 24 teams up from the 16 teams that participated in the last tournament. It will be hosted in the 10 French cities of Saint Denis, Marseille, Lyon, Lille, Paris, Bordeaux, Saint Etienne, Nice, Lens, and Toulouse.
