Now more than ever, Africans are shaping and owning their narrative through stories and music – and this Africa Month, DStv and GOtv will serve as vehicles that share these stories far and wide.
This follows the launch of a new campaign dubbed “The Africa We See” aimed at celebrating the excellence and power of Africa, its people and the rich stories that come from the continent in commemoration of Africa Month.
Africa month, celebrated throughout the month of May, is recognised as a time when the continent of Africa commemorates the formation of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) which was founded on May 25th, 1963, and was later succeeded by the African Union.
Hassan Saleh, the MultiChoice Uganda General Manager says Africa needs to come together and unite in celebrating what matters the most, especially during these unprecedented times.
“Although the current climate demands everyone to physically isolate it has, in so many ways, called people to come together and unite in celebrating what matters the most: resilience, sense of community, creativity and so much more. Attributes that perfectly illustrate the very essence of who we are as Africans,” says Hassan Saleh.
“It is in light of this, that we celebrate the distinctively African talent and entertainment on our channels that reflect the stories and lives of our treasured viewers across the continent.”
With a myriad of stories to be told, diverse audiences to reach and an abundance of talent across the continent, DStv and GOtv will be sharing impactful and inspiring African content across several channels including Mzansi Magic and Zambezi Magic for Southern Africa, Maisha Bongo for Tanzanian viewers, Pearl Magic for the Uganda market, Maisha Magic East for Kenyan audience as well as Africa Magic that continuously provides viewers with a variety of popular Nigerian series and movies.
