Dr. Jose Chameleone’s father has opened up about his boys and how he raised them to stardom. The 67-year-old man, Mzee Emmanuel Mayanja, revealed that it was not easy bringing them up since some of them passed big problems for him during their youthful years.
Speaking to a local tabloid, Mzee Mayanja said that Chameleone was so stubborn during his youthful days.
“At first they were easy to raise when they were young. But one of them became a problem during his youthful years. He joined Shanks Vividi’s group and started escaping from the house. He even cut holes in my burglar proof windows and would even leave pillows in his bed in case I checked and he was not there,” he said.
Mzee Mayanja then revealed how he played the investigator to find out what his son was doing out late in the night.
“I found a poster where he was going to perform and decided to attend the show,” he reveals.“I quietly attended the show and was shocked at the talent that he had. He sang just like his grandfather and this was very emotional for me.”
“At the end of the show I decided to surprise him and gave him 5000shs and thanked him for following his talent. Later I gave him money to go to Nairobi where he met up with his contacts and became a star. I am proud of him,” Mzee Mayanja added referring to Chameleone.
Speaking about all his singing sons in general (Jose Chameleone, Pallaso, Weasel and the late AK47), Mzee Mayanja highlighted the fact that he has a problem with them spending less time with their families.
“They don’t get time for their families and parents because of their busy celebrity schedule. They have become slaves of money and are always chasing girls. I don’t want to discuss this further but that is why most of them have many kids. It is not good.”
Mzee’s advice to his sons and all other Ugandan musicians was to save up for their future.
“I advise my sons and all musicians to save the little they make. The money saved will help them when they fall sick so that they don’t disturb people. And they should also prepare for old age,” he concluded.
