Mawokota North Constituency Member of Parliament, Hon. Hillary Kiyaga, widely known as Dr. Hilderman, has reaffirmed his strong commitment to fighting for copyright reform in Uganda.

Speaking recently, Dr. Hilderman noted that while his efforts in leadership are visible and he has accomplished many goals, the need to improve copyright laws remains his top priority.
“My efforts are visible, and I’ve accomplished a lot, but copyright reform remains my top priority,” he stated during his interview on Sanyuka TV.

The lawmaker, who is also a renowned musician, has been one of the most vocal advocates for the protection of artists’ intellectual property.
He believes Uganda must strengthen its copyright systems to protect local talent and ensure that creatives are fairly compensated for their work.
Dr. Hilderman’s remarks come at a time when many Ugandan artists continue to raise concerns over exploitation and lack of royalties from their work.
He has promised to keep pushing for the amendment and enforcement of copyright laws during his time in Parliament.
