Musician and Member of Parliament Hillary Kiyaga, popularly known as Dr. Hilderman, has officially opened a modern recording studio aimed at supporting young, aspiring artists in his home area of Mawokota.

This initiative, he says, is part of a campaign promise and a commitment to nurturing creative talent in Uganda.
In a post shared on his official Facebook page, Dr. Hilderman revealed that the idea stemmed from his own struggles at the beginning of his music career.
“When I began my music journey, the most challenging thing was attaining studio fees. Talent minus a good recording environment psychologically affects composition,” he wrote.
The studio, named Wokota Studios, is located at his residence in Kalagala, Mpigi Town Council, Ward B, and is now open to all talented Mawokotanians.
It’s a fully equipped mini-modern facility, designed to eliminate one of the biggest hurdles for upcoming musicians: access to professional recording environments.
Dr. Hilderman also mentioned that the project was inspired by his recent appointment as Shadow Minister for Arts and Culture by National Unity Platform (NUP) party president, Bobi Wine.
“When my President appointed me, I had to be exemplary. NUP believes sports and creatives can be a big GDP contributor for Uganda and a major export,” he noted.
To further boost the initiative, respected music producer Eddy Dee has partnered with the studio to provide additional support by dedicating one weekend each month to mentor and guide the young in-house producers.
This move has been welcomed by local creatives, many of whom see it as a long-overdue investment in the grassroots music scene.
