Mawokota North MP Dr. Hilderman, known for his successful music career before joining politics, has made surprising revelations about the financial realities of being a member of parliament.

Contrary to popular belief, he says there is no significant financial gain in the position.

Dr. Hilderman stated that he was financially better off when he was still actively involved in the music industry.

During his music career, he would perform at various events and go home with his earnings, free of any further obligations. However, since transitioning to politics, he finds himself burdened by numerous requests for financial assistance.

I was richer when I was a musician. I could make up to 8 million shillings in a single weekend from performances. Now, I earn about 20 million shillings from Parliament, but the moment I turn on my phone, I get so many calls asking for help. The money I earn is simply not enough to meet all these demands.

He advised those aspiring to join Parliament to reconsider if their motivation is financial gain, as the pressure to assist constituents far outweighs the salary received.
