Comedian Patrick Salvado Idringi has sided with Alex Muhangi and attributed the recent attacks he has taken from MC Kapale to jealous for his success.
Muhangi has in recent days been at the centre of a social media attack by fans of Mighty Family comedy duo who accused him of having a hand in the ‘kidnap’ of Sammy (from the duo). Sammy had posted a video clip in which he supported Bobi Wine and abused President Museveni.
In days that followed, there were unsubstantiated reports that he had gone missing. Some said he had been kidnapped by security agencies and tortured.
Muhangi was entangled in the saga since an audio of his phonecall advising Sammy against abusing the President, had been leaked to social media. Bobi Wine supporters attacked the Comedy Store boss for silencing comedians for their political opinions.
However, many now believe the comedian who is a close ally with MC Kapale who has for long waged war on Alex Muhangi, staged his own kidnap in order to win public sympathy. This especially came out when Sammy made contradicting statements about the incident during an interview on NBS TV’s Uncut Sabula.
Now Salvado has expressed solidarity with his long time colleague Muhangi and credited him for creating “the most successful and influential comedy club in Uganda”.
In a Facebook comment made Tuesday, Salvado advised Muhangi to focus on his work and pay no attention to the detractors.
“Comedy Store Uganda is by far the most successful and influential comedy club in Uganda, and Alex Muhangi has done an exceptional job, unfortunately not everyone will see his hard work but the success and that always brings about jealousy,” Salvador wrote in the comment.
“I just thank him for his consistency and he should expect more of these, just keep your head up high and keep on doing what you do best, the words will come but your works will shut them down,” he added.
