If you are a fan of Ugandan music like myself, you will agree with me that Spin master Dj Shiru has joined the competitive industry officially as a musician. You might have listened to a number of all-star tracks with the veteran Dj making an intro at the beginning of the song. Question is, is he a fully-fledged artistes now?
When asked about this, the multi award winning spin doctor said that he had to jump into the industry so that he could to remain relevant in entertainment and arts. “I realised I needed to do more than just being a DJ, so I decided to come up with this concept of bringing together different artistes from different genres of music on one track. I have a number of tracks like Mr DJ, Ladies Night, Better Than Dem, Tell Me and the latest one Tetunatuka,” he said.
Shiru was then asked how he manages to become a DJ and do music at the same time. He revealed that it is quite easy to pull off. He said: “Well, it’s basically about making a concept. I make the beat, contact the artistes who I think fit in the song, organise them on the track, organise for the video shoot and then promote the song.”
The DJ is now working on a song with A-pass and Don MC. In the recent past Shiru has released Tetunatuka, which is a song about Uganda that features artistes like Bebe Cool, Rema, Cindy, Peter Miles, Young Mulo, Saxes and Shilling. He also revealed that his DJ school for teaching young Deejays how it is done is starting soon.
We will keep you posted.
