DJ Messe Bontwe’s Body Repatriated for Dignified Burial in Uganda

The late DJ Messe Bontwe, who passed away on December 12th, 2024, in the United States, will soon receive a dignified farewell in Uganda. Plans to repatriate his body have been successfully concluded, and preparations for his burial are underway.

According to Grace Sekamatte, DJ Messe Bontwe’s body left the US on January 14th, 2025, and is expected to arrive in Uganda on January 16th, 2025.

Upon arrival, the body will be handed over to Executive Funeral Services and his family.

A funeral service will be held at Munyonyo Church of Uganda on January 17th, 2025, to honor the life and contributions of the celebrated comedian and DJ. After the service, the body will be transported to his home in Kabuuma.

The art industry will also pay tribute to DJ Messe Bontwe’s legacy during a special event at the National Theatre on January 18th, 2025.

The final journey of DJ Messe Bontwe will conclude on Monday, January 20th, 2025, when he will be laid to rest at his ancestral home in Rwampala at 2:00 PM.
