Popular and long-serving Deejay, DJ Bush Baby real names Michael Owori, has kicked off his mentorship program for the young deejays in the industry.

In a bid to pass on what he has learnt over the years to the new generation and help mentor them, the NBS After 5 producer who won an award at the Buzz Teeniez Award’s last weekend and Head of creative at Next Media, is now sharing, coaching and educating the young Deejays. He is doing this through Salute the DJ initiative.

Bush describes Salute the DJ as a professional DJ initiative to organize, inspire, promote DJ’ing in Uganda.

He goes ahead to say that young Deejays have so much to learn and there is a lot of opportunity for them in Uganda and beyond that, they must prepare for. “As a pioneer, I took it upon myself to start a platform and offer professional guidance. It’s about time for unity. Through this platform, DJ’S are able to advocate and get better commercial value for their skills, and talent,” Bush says.

He adds; “There have been such initiatives before, Salute the DJ is not here to compete with any pre-existing platforms. The ultimate end game is to have an all DJ headlined affair annually to celebrate out God-given talents and network.”

There are big plans for the platform in the future. According to Bush, there will be bookings for Deejays, merchandise vending and content generation. There will also be marketing, workshops among other things for Deejays who are part.

Because the media industry heavily relies on Deejays, there is a chance for young ones to be taught and help them achieve their dreams. With time Salute the DJ will inspire talent beyond Uganda.

We will keep you posted.
