Dj Aludah has advised fellow DJ’s to stop giving fans what they request for, but rather what they need. He conveyed his message in a long statement on Facebook. Read it below:

SO, Last night as I was Djing at Venom, I noticed a few things and I just wanna take this opportunity to share with my fellow Djs and well wishers. Kicked off my set at exactly 2am Just after Dj Lex and Dj Mark had murdered a party. Lots of people expected me to kick off in same gear the two djs had already left it off but me, this is how I view Djing! To me, Djing is a Novel, Djing is a movie, Djing is a Story and thats why you hear of things like STORY LINE in djing! What do I mean by this, NO fuckin story starts with ” And then they got married and lived happily ever after!” It always starts with “Once upon a time” Basically an Introduction. Then it has a body and then the ending! And TO ME, thats how I view Djing. You can not get on stage and the 1st song you play is , (….Whats the biggest song in UG at the mmnt..) Yea, Got it! You can not kick off a party with Juicy Juice – Radio and Weasel. Such songs are supposed to be the body of your Novel and they shud be ushered in. Whenever I play music, I always have guys request for these Big songs, My response is always the same,” Am gonna play it and when I play it, you are gonna love it even more!” Yes I have the confidence they will love it because I am planning on ushering this song in and thats what will make them love it even more! Now am not saying this always works, It could bACK FIRE! Wonder how?? Am a perfectionist but am not perfect. Thats the ONLY reason it could backfire.
I always have ears in the crowd when am playing coz my biggest interest is to know how my crowd is taking in their music. I have learnt to take criticism quite well so I hate it wen some1 comes and tells me,”Dude, u killed it.” But I appreciate it wen one says, “Dude, U killed it Naye wano ne wana things Jam!” Where am I heading with this, A couple of djs had a few things to say when I was kicking off the party,” Am not feeling the vibe, Why isn’t he scratching, We came to see him scratch and do some tricks, Why isnt he playing songs people know, Why isnt he playing dancehall…” Let me educate you my friends. A party is not all about dropping the biggest songs. A party is not all about playing Dancehall music, A party is not all about scratching and doing tricks. A party is a NOVEL. U have 2hours, Give people a good 2hours read! Keep people wondering where you are heading and b4 they know it, The party will be jumping. Am glad to say, it was good to see ya’ll nodding your heads and clapping your hands in satisfaction at the end of it all. Am glad you enjoyed the novel.
So Djs, Lets stop giving people what they want, This is where you hear cases like”That dj plays the same music year in year out.” Lets give people what they need. Lets give people a good read. Let guys clap their hands to satisfaction at the end of the read.
