Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz has emerged victor in the Worldwide Act: Africa/India category at the MTV Europe Music Awards that were held inside the Mediolanum Center in Milan on Sunday night.
Best known song for his hit single Number One, Diamond Platnumz beat India’s Priyanka Chopra to win the coveted award.
In his acceptance message, he thanked his fans for the immense support. He posted:
“This is not my Trophy, it’s our trophy, me and You!.. because I believe without your Votes I wouldn’t have made it… wanna thank God my Africa and All WorldWide fans, My fellow Artists, Media without forgeting my Family and Management….Many thanks to @MtvEma & @mtvbaseafrica for recognizing my efforts”
Meanwhile, Diamond had earlier beaten the likes of Yemi Alade, DJ Arafat, AKA and Davido to win ‘Best African Act’ for the 2015 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) as he qualified to compete in the Worldwide Act: Africa/India category.
