Tanzanian sensational singer Diamond Platnumz was the headlining act at the Kampala City festival charity concert that was held at Kololo Ceremonial grounds on Friday evening.
The “Number One” hitmaker who stepped on stage dressed in an all-white ensemble a few minutes past 10pm, following performances from several Ugandan acts who included Sheebah Karungi, Ykee Benda, Irene Ntale, Cindy Sanyu and Gravity Omutujju among others, failed to charm the hordes of revelers that turned for the concert.
Diamond performed for close to two hours, but could not connect with the crowd for the greater part of his showcase as he performed his little known songs. The crowd only came alive when he switched gears, and started performing his popular songs like “Salome”, “Marry you”, and “Eneka” among others.
However, it was too little too late as the concert was brought to an abrupt end, cutting Diamond off mid-performance when it clocked midnight as per KCCA regulations. Many revelers could be heard airing out their disappoint as they walked out of the concert venue, and they later took to social media to vent.
Nonetheless, he put up a live and energetic performance that was punctuated with lots of powerful dance moves.
