The Tusker Malt Uganda Open took a new twist as the defending champion, Ronald Otile put up a master class performance to take the lead on Day 2 of the Open.

Otile who had ended the previous day with a score of 74 and in 4 th place overall, wasted no time when he teed off for round two of the Open. Looking like a man in his comfort zone, Otile led his pack from start to end and shot a two under par 69 to become the overall leader of the Open.

Earlier, Otile had said that he was aiming at shooting a 68 as his target to improve his chances of retaining his trophy.

Despite Otile’s star performance, he was not the only one who impressed on day two as Rugumayo Ronald and Kenya’s Nandwa Alfred also played impressively. Rugumayo posted 71 as Ndadwa posted 75 to qualify for the ‘pressure group’ on day 3.

Day one leader, Adolf Muhumuza had an average as he shot 77 on day two to maintain his pressure on Ronald Otile and also progress to the pressure group.

There was an improvement from Zambia’s Aaron Simfukwe who managed to shoot 75 which was better than his day one result of 80.

Although Kenya’s Mudanyi Edwin is averagely doing well, his counterpart Bollo Kenneth is still struggling to impress and show that indeed he is Kenya’s Golf of the Year 2016.

The players go into day three well knowing that they’re playing for everything and with no room for any errors. Day three will see the introduction of subsidiary players to the tournament.

All eyes will be on Ronald Otile, Adolf Muhumuza, Rugumayo Ronald and Kenya’s Nandwa Alfred as they tussle it out for the leader spot on day three.

Uganda Breweries Limited, through its flagship premium beer Tusker Malt Lager, for the 6th year in a row, are the title sponsors of the Uganda Golf Open. Tusker Malt Lager moved to augment its commitment to the game of Golf by further increasing its cash sponsorship from UGX 200 million shillings to UGX 230 million shillings. An additional UGX 270 million shillings as non-cash sponsorship has also been injected into the tournament, taking the total sponsorship kit up to UGX 500 million shillings.

Tusker Malt Lager embodies the spirit of the game of golf. Tusker Malt lager is slow brewed with an ingredient base of 100% malt giving it that unmistakably rich, smooth premium taste that is widely recognized and that consumers have grown to love.
