A physical altercation involving singers Dax Vibez and Mikie Wine, and Jinja-based politician Hussein Ibrahim ended in a police-brokered settlement on Monday evening, after over 14 hours of detention and high tension at the Jinja Central Police Station.

The fracas unfolded at around 3:00 AM at Shell Ambercourt fuel station in Jinja City. Hussein Ibrahim, an aspirant for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Youth MP seat and current Youth Councillor for Jinja Southern Division, reportedly approached Mikie Wine for a greeting but was blocked by the artist’s bodyguards.
Police reports indicate that Ibrahim forcefully made his way to hug the singer, sparking a heated argument that quickly spiraled into a physical confrontation.
James Mubi, the Kiira Region Police spokesperson, confirmed that both parties later filed formal complaints at the Central Police Station in Jinja. Ibrahim accused Mikie Wine of assault, while Mikie Wine countered with a case of malicious damage to his car, allegedly caused by Ibrahim.
While tempers remained high, another twist unfolded at the police station itself—Dax Vibez, younger brother to opposition figure Bobi Wine, reportedly punched Ibrahim inside the Officer-in-Charge’s office, leading to Dax’s immediate arrest and detention.
Although Mikie Wine and Ibrahim were initially released, the politician was later rearrested and charged with malicious damage.
Tensions remained high until late afternoon, when all three parties agreed to drop their respective charges under a settlement facilitated by the police.
By 7:30 PM, police had granted bond to Dax Vibez, Mikie Wine, and Hussein Ibrahim, effectively ending the day-long standoff.
The altercation stirred debate online, as it involved notable figures from Uganda’s rival political camps—the ruling NRM and the opposition National Unity Platform (NUP). Social media lit up with commentary on the clash, with many speculating about the underlying political and personal tensions.
In response to the incident, police spokesperson James Mubi called for calm and urged public figures to resolve conflicts through peaceful and lawful channels, warning against the dangers of politically charged confrontations in public spaces.
