David Lutalo’s “Manya” single grew more popular with 10,964 new downloads in October to win the MTN CallerTune of the Month award for the second time. The same song garnered 6,692 new downloads to win the MTN CallerTune of September prize in the on-going MTN CallerTunez Online awards.
“We are very honoured to reward David Lutalo once again for his great song Manya that has become a household tune to MTN customers and music lovers across Uganda. Manya has truly grown into a big tune on our CallerTunez portal from 6,692 new downloads in September to 10,964 new downloads in October. It humbles me to know that our customers appreciate Ugandan music and thus consume it in innovative ways like CallerTunez,” said MTN’s Senior Manager Digital, Susan Kayemba.
David Lutalo becomes the first artiste to win MTN CallerTune of the month for two consecutive months, getting UGX. 2.5M from MTN Uganda as an appreciation for making music that is exciting Ugandans. Rema Namakula was the first winner of the MTN CallerTunez Award in the inaugural month with her song Muchuzi the most downloaded in August.
“It’s a blessing that I have once again won the MTN CallerTune of the Month in the ongoing MTN CRBT online awards. I am grateful to MTN Uganda for creating the awards which are clearly improving and extending our music’s reach. CallerTunez offer Artistes with a revenue generating alternative more so now when there is no copyright laws implementation and our CD sales continue to decrease.” Remarked David Lutalo.
