Producer and singer Daddy Andre has weighed in on Joshua Baraka’s rising music career, praising his talent but expressing concern over his musical direction.

According to Andre, Baraka has been tilting heavily towards Nigerian Afrobeat influences, which he believes takes away from originality.
“The problem is that the songs are too Afro-Nigerian kind of, so it’s not original because he goes and plucks out some rhythms and sounds like them,” Andre said.
He cited an example of Nigerian star Oxlade, claiming Baraka had borrowed one of his rhythms, making his music less distinct.
“That’s why the Nigerians aren’t probably worried about his competition, because it’s their sound and not original,” Andre explained.
The celebrated producer emphasized that he values creativity rooted in Uganda’s unique identity rather than borrowed styles.
“I’d rather go with the creative that comes from home and is unique than him,” he added.
