Ugandan rapper Da Agent has shared his opinion on what separates a “ground musician” from a “sounding musician.”

Speaking in an online interview, Da Agent said many artists often enjoy success in nightclubs and among DJs, yet their music is not recognized by the wider public.
“It is easy for an artist’s music to be vibrant in nightclubs, but when it is not anywhere on ground, the common people may not even have heard about him or her,” Da Agent explained.
He added that a “ground musician” is one whose songs are well-known and loved by ordinary people across different communities, while a “sounding musician” may only trend in certain circles but lacks a strong fanbase on the streets.
Da Agent’s remarks highlight the growing conversation about how artists can balance online and club popularity with real influence among everyday music listeners.
