Uganda Cranes set their feet in Lome, Togo yesterday afternoon after approximately 5 hours of travel from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia where they had spent their Sunday night. The Cranes safely landed in Togo and were booked in Hotel Sarakawa, Lome.
Upon arrival, the Uganda Cranes’ players underwent a mandatory medical checkup on Ebola as demanded by most West African nations due to the Ebola alert. All players tested negative (none is infected).
With reports indicating that the hosts were either unable or unwilling to provide a favorable training ground for the Cranes on Flights, head coach Miltin ‘Micho’ Sedrojevic together with his technical staff subjected the team to a training session later on in the day on arrival.
Following a five hour long journey of travel, Micho gave his boys some ample time to rest after lunch before embarking on an evening training session that kicked off their preparations for the Wednesday tie on match day four. According to the FUFA website, “Micho involved his boys in some simple drills using the Hotel’s gardens”.
After the 1-0 loss to Togo at Namboole stadium on Saturday, Uganda was relegated to second position where they are seated with 4points just like rivals Guinea Bissau who are third on the Group E log after the three games played. Uganda has a better goal difference as compared to third placed Guinea.
West African giants Ghana now lead Group E log on 5points in three games and are unbeaten while Togo remain at the bottom of the table despite their 1-0 win over the Cranes.
The Uganda Cranes will be in action tomorrow against the Sparrow Hawks of Togo on match day four of the 2015 Morocco AFCON qualifiers at the Stade De Kutgue stadium.
