Cranes coach Micho Sredojevic knows his team will need to furiously attack Madagascar this Saturday if they are to avoid the embarrassment of being knocked out of the the Nations Cup qualifiers.
Uganda face the Barea in the return leg next weekend with a task of overturning a 2-1 defeat suffered in Madagascar last Sunday.
While a 1-0 victory will suffice, Micho also knows that they cannot set out for that since Madagascar, as seen in the furious attacks in the first leg, have the capacity to score in Kampala.
The Cranes must attack but at the same time watch the Malagasy counter attacks. Yet Sunday’s training at Namboole raised some issues in attack.
In an 11-aside session, no one scored in open play let alone scoring at all. The only goals came in free kick and penalty sessions.
How then will they achieve the task this coming Saturday? “This is something that we are working on,” Micho told supersport.com on Sunday.
“Scoring is a chronic problem generally, that’s why strikers are the most expensive players in the world. This unpredictable game at times is very difficult to understand. In our last training session before the match against Madagascar we scored 17 unbelievable goals in open play, but during the match we needed a late penalty to score the goal.”
Micho added: “So you could not say if goals don’t come today in training they will not come on Saturday, because for in yesterday’s training and in previous training sessions we have scored very many goals.
“But today we created the chances but the ball simply could not enter the net and this is one of the issues we need to address during the week, there is no doubt about that.”
