Cranes, Amavubi game moved

The international friendly between Uganda and Rwanda earlier scheduled for next Friday has been moved by a day to Saturday.

The game was also due to played under floodlights but will now start at 4pm at the same venue – Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

“We consulted the technical team and they were comfortable having the game on Saturday and not Friday,” said Edgar Watson, the Fufa CEO.

This will be the Cranes’ first game since the local football governing body Fufa signed a four-year deal worth Shs4.2b with telecom giants Airtel, who replaced MTN as the official sponsors of the national team.

It will also be Micho’s first game against Rwanda, who parted company with him before he joined Uganda in May.

Watson also hinted at a likely change in the national team colours for cranes’ home games. The Cranes have previously donned yellow at home but with Airtel, whose official colours are red, taking over, that could change.

“When I was still playing we used to put on white as our home kit so it would not matter a lot if we switched to red,” said Watson, the former Cranes star.
