The lives of undergraduate students in Uganda are often plagued by ‘usufferer’ as the majority of them are reliant on loans and goodwill from parents and other well-wishers, which can barely sustain them until the end of the semester.
This means that for most of the students, driving a car, let alone owning one is a dream that is unattainable on their meagre allowances.
“The #SamsungTwitterParty is back! Get ready to party the night away come 19th December at Zone 7 with fellow tweeps. Entrance is 15,000shs. Call 0775439894 for details. Great music and drinks.”
The students at the American University of Dubai seem not to have the same problem, judging by the array of cars in the school parking lot.
A Rolls-Royce, a Ferrari and a black Aston Martin, which wouldn’t look out of place in a Bond film, line the student car park row after row. The gallery of high-end cars was taken by student Meeka Nasser who wanted to show the world the array of models on show at the university.
He said: ‘I attend the American University of Dubai and the cars that students drive here are just ludicrous. ‘Keep in mind; almost all of the students are between 18 and 24 years old, as the graduate programme is pretty tiny here.
