It is now official Congolese singer Fally Ipupa is coming to Uganda.
The “Fally Ipupa Live” concert was confirmed in a press briefing held at Mestil Hotel on Tuesday.
Speaking to media, Medard Mugume, a representative from 243 Events who are organizing the show affirmed that they have already finalised talks with the singer and he is excited to be performing in Uganda.
“This will be the first time Fally Ipupa is coming to Uganda,” Medard Mugume revealed. “He is very excited and can’t wait to be here because we have told him Uganda has a lot of love for him.”
Fally Ipupa is a singer-songwriter, dancer, philanthropist, guitarist and producer. He has been singing since the early 1990s and was a member of Koffi Olimide’s music band, Quartier Latin International from 1999 until 2006, when he broke away to release his first solo album.
This will be the first time he is performing in Uganda and he will be traveling with his 25-man band for the show.
Sponsored by NXT Radio Uganda, the show is slated for Friday, December 13th at Lugogo Cricket Oval.
“At NXT Radio, we pride ourselves in giving our listeners what is trending,” Marcus Kwikiriza, the General Manager NXT Radio said. “At the tail end of last year, Fally Ipupa brought back Soukous music and it can argued he made it become popular again. This is the very reason we have come on board to support this show.”
Fally Ipupa will share the stage with several Ugandan artistes including Cindy Sanyu, Karole Kasita, Vampino, and Voltage Music among others.
After the Kampala concert, there will be a subsequent show at the Green Light stadium in Arua on Sunday, December 15.
“Fally Ipupa is full of energy and a great entertainer. He will definitely give fans value for their money.” Mugume added.
