“As we try to develop the comedy industry in Uganda, others are fighting to bring it down and some are hiding in media”. These were words from the comedians after reading an article that was written in Kampala the sun today about amateurish comedy in Uganda.
The article explains how comedians have gone ahead to grumble each other in their industry and have no content. In addition, a story about local comedians that perform at Laftaz also claimed that they have fallen short of stories to tell and resorted to a copy and paste style. The writer added that everybody who thinks that they can can crack a rib goes ahead and joins Laftaz.
However most people seemed to disagree with the sun. They believe that Laftaz has good comedy and the content is worth their time and money. Comedians also disagree with the sun, they believe it is okay to use some of the international content in their jokes. Even Salvador, the Capital FM drive show presenter believes it is okay to copy some content. This comes after he performed at the Club Organised Africa Laughs comedy show last week.
