Trevor Noah, the South African comedian who replaced Jon Stewart as host of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” in 2015, has purchased a $10 million penthouse inside a tony Hell’s Kitchen condo conversion where he had been renting a two-bedroom apartment, sources told the Wall Street Journal.
Noah took up residence in the Stella Tower — a Ralph Walker-designed structure located at 425 W. 50th St. that dates back to 1927 — in a 2,000-square-foot unit that had last asked a cool $15,000 monthly in September last year. That apartment has high ceilings, a steam shower in the master bathroom, views of the city skyline and the Hudson River, and an easy, four-block commute to the show’s studio at 733 11th Ave.
Seems like he loved it.
Now, Noah is the proud new owner of a three bedroom located on the 17th and 18th floors. The deal closed Monday for the home, which originally was listed for $13 million, but eventually the asking price was lowered to $11.49 million.
The 3,596-square-foot duplex sports a 934-square-foot terrace, ceilings 14 feet high, an eat-in chef’s kitchen with Miele appliances, and oversize windows in the living and dining rooms that look out at the city skyline.
In addition, the second and third bedrooms have en suite bathrooms, while a staircase leads upstairs to the master suite, which has a wet bar, a dressing room and lots of closet space, the floor plan shows.
Building amenities include a lounge for residents, gym, media room and garden.
