BigEyeUg‘s Derrick Luyomba caught up with comedian Dolibondo for a quick interview. Check out the excerpts below.
Tell us a bit about yourself.
I am Jesero Felix aka Dolibondo Unstresser Babangidda. I am 29 years old.
Why the stage name Dolibondo?
The name Dolibondo was a slip of a tongue. My friends used to call me Dolinto but someone mistakenly called me Dolibondo and I took it up because it seemed funny.
What do you do apart from comedy?
I am one of the shareholders at Laftaz comedy lounge.
We had you sold off your shares at Laftaz, is it true?
No! I didn’t sell them off, it was just rumors going around. I have sponsors for my upcoming show, so I did not sell off my shares as claimed.
How long have you been doing comedy?
I have been doing comedy professionally for the last eight years, but I have been a comedian since I was a child.
What inspired the Camp Comedy Show?
I came up with Camp Comedy show because I wanted to give people a chance to have a feel of nature and comedy at the same time, that’s why we organize the show in places with a touch of nature.
When and where is the Camp comedy show?
It’s on 25th March. It will be a Good Friday. It will be held at Forever Resort, former Baraza in Jinja.
Why take the show out of the capital city to Jinja?
As I said before Camp Comedy is about experiencing nature. I think Jinja is one of those places that need to be exploited. We are also planning to take the show to other major towns around the country.
What new thing should people expect on that day?
People should just come and experience and feel nature in conjunction with comedy. There will also be other very many surprises.
Last word to the fans?
Fans and all those who feel Uganda is blessed with nature and would love to begin the Easter holiday in style should just come around and have a blast.
