While collabos with West African artists have been a major catalyst for the growth of new school Tanzanian musicians like Harmonize and Diamond Platnumz, Ugandan music legend Dr. Jose Chameleone has been blunt about his stand on the duets; adamant that these musicians would better just do this with fellow East Africans. After a coincidental meeting with Harmonize, fans hope Chameleone lands a collabo with the self-christened Konde Boy.
In a November interview on Citizen Radio’s Mseto program, King Joseph complained to Mzazi William Tuva, “New big artists like Diamond Platnumz and Harmonize have not done enough to uplift fellow East Africans in the music industry. Back in the day, we used to get enough support from the likes of Professor Jay.”
He added that the East Africans are never invited for shows in West Africa and the collabos aren’t promoted there like it’s done here; which is more of a parasitic relationship.
Dr. Chameleone posted a video on Instagram of him and Harmonize seemingly sharing contacts. A collabo with the Wasafi Star should be in the pipeline.
