One of Uganda’s most renowned nightspots, Club Guvnor, is reportedly set to close its doors after four decades of operation.
According to reliable sources, the club will host its final event on December 27, 2024, marking the end of an era for Kampala’s nightlife.
Club Guvnor, located on Jinja Road in the Industrial Area, has been a staple of the city’s entertainment scene, known for its high-end atmosphere and exclusive events.
The closure is attributed to rising operational costs, which have made it difficult for the club to continue.
Originally called “Angenoir,” the nightclub is owned by prominent businessman Charlie Lubega. Over the years, it has cemented its place as one of the longest-running and most prestigious venues in Kampala.
Operating only on Fridays and Saturdays, the club catered to a corporate and premium clientele, offering an upscale experience.
The club’s layout features four bars and four independent sections, along with top-tier sound systems, ample secure parking, and state-of-the-art security with CCTV surveillance.
It also provided an on-site, fully equipped ambulance for the safety of its patrons.
Marketed as “East Africa’s Swankiest Nightclub,” Club Guvnor has been a go-to destination for many and will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on Kampala’s nightlife scene.
As the date of its final event approaches, long-time patrons and partygoers are expected to gather for one last dance in celebration of the club’s legacy.
