After battling illness for quite sometime, top city tycoon Godfrey Mabirizi, the owner of Mabirizi coomplex breathed his last yesterday morning as they rushed him from his palatial home in Naguru to Mulago hospital.
According to family, the tycoon will be laid to rest at his ancestral land in Nabingo, meanwhile, the vigil is at is home in Naguru.
Godfrey Mabirizi has been one of the leading importers of rice and sugar in the country supplying to various countries in the great lakes region, including DRC and South Sudan. He is the commissioner of several commercial buildings in the heart of Kampala including; Mabirizi Complex opposite Pioneer Mall, Mabirizi arcade along William street, Mabirizi plaza along Martin road and Nalubega arcade on Bombo road next to Sabrinas pub.
An insider revealed that the tycoon has been on an expensive cocktail of drugs, and would fly out of the country regularly for further medical attention. Mabirizi’s unending illness cost him his marriage to the first wife. After his sickness became a serious topic in the family, the tycoon was forced to abandon the first wife and the couple’s multi million Bugolobi mansion and bought another house in Naguru where he has been living with a new woman, whom he hooked around 2009.
