It all seems surreal for dancehall singer Cindy Sanyu after her big win at the 3rd edition of the All Africa Music Awards(AFRIMA) that were held in Lagos, Nigeria on Sunday evening.
The “Ayokyayokya” hitmaker, who beat top female singers across the region including Uganda’s Juliana Kanyomozi and Irene Ntale, Kenya’s Victoria Kimani among others, to become the Best Female Artiste in East Africa has revealed that she is still speechless. “I’m still speechless. I am the best female artiste in East Africa 2016,” she said.
She further extended her gratitude to audio producer Nessim and video producer J. Blessing for producing her award winning song – “Still Standing”.
Meanwhile, Cindy was not the only Ugandan musician that walked home with an award at the prestigious ceremony. Eddy Kenzo won the Best Collaboration award for his single “Mbilo Mbilo remix” featuring Nigeria’s Niniola while Unique won the songwriter of the year award.
