Football enthusiasts flocked the Pavilion Bar and Grill parking as the Guinness Night Football extravaganza made it’s debut in Fort Portal town over the weekend.
The neon-themed night saw fans indulge in a cocktail of fun football activities like 5- Aside football, Table Foosball, Human Foosball as well as local skill challenges that included “Mirundi” and “Kagere” among others.
There was also a football competition in which town folk formed teams to face off against each other. Some of the competing teams included; ‘Pavillion’,’ Hits’, ‘Desert’, ‘Team no sleep’, ‘UPU stars’, ‘The preacher’s’, ‘Team Abasasi’, ‘St George A’ and B among others.
By the end of games, it was team UPU and team Abasasi that emerged victorious. Team Abasasi defeated Team no sleep 2-0 to top Group A while UPU stars thrashed St George B 3-0 in Group B. The two teams also booked a place at the grand finale that will take place in Kampala this December.
Away from the games, the night also featured performances from musicians, Cindy and Fik Fameica. Cindy, who came on first, jumped on stage with her famous hit song “Selector” but it was her 2009 hit song “Ayokyayokya” that got the crowd wild and on their feet.
The night was later closed with a riveting performance from Fik Fameica who turned the heat up for the revelers who got on their feet dancing the night away to songs like “Gwa Bisobola”, “Tubikole”, and “Omu Bwati” among others.
