Chris Brown’s assault trial delayed for months

Chris Brown’s Washington DC assault trial has been put on hold for several months.

The case revolves around an incident outside the W Hotel in Washington DC in October, in which 20-year-old Parker Adams claimed to have been physically attacked by Brown and his bodyguard.

The singer’s bodyguard Christopher Hollosy was found guilty of assault earlier in the week for his own alleged involvement in the incident.

Hollosy had been expected to testify at the opening of Brown’s trial this week that he, not the singer, had struck Adams, despite the fact that the bodyguard is planning to appeal his own conviction.

The hold-up in Brown’s case developed because Hollosy would not testify unless he was granted immunity from prosecutors, a lawyer for the singer told the court.

Hollosy also apparently wants his own appeal to make it through the court system before intervening in Brown’s case.

Immunity for Hollosy is said to have been denied by prosecutors because he declined to meet with them before testifying, in addition to there being some doubts from attorneys about the veracity of his claims.

Prosecutors have said that the delay in Brown’s case could last up to a year.

A status hearing will be held on June 25, the same day that Hollosy is scheduled to be sentenced.

Brown could face jail time if he is ultimately convicted because he was on probation from an earlier assault case involving Rihanna at the time of his arrest last year.

The popstar currently remains in custody in California following an alleged probation violation from when he was in rehab earlier this year.
