Chris Brown has filed a suit against a man for allegedly trying to extort him, it has been reported.
Brown was hit with a suit by a man named Malcolm Ausbon, who claims the singer attacked him over a foul call during a pick-up basketball game in July.
According to TMZ, Brown has countersued, arguing that Ausbon threatened to report the singer to the police for an attack if he did not pay him.
The suit claims that Ausbon formally admitted that Brown was not involved in the altercation, but later wrote via his lawyer:
“Mr Ausbon believes $250,000 will suffice compensating him for his physical and emotional injuries.
“Mr Ausbon is placed in a position by the LAPD where he needs to decide whether he will press charges for aggravated assault and battery.
It added: “However, Mr Ausbon prefers not to resort to filing these claims or the lawsuit. He would rather be compensated.”
Brown’s countersuit goes on to argue that when the performer refused to pay up, Ausbon filed his suit.
The singer has been dealing with legal troubles for several months. Most recently, he was ordered to spend 131 more days in jail over a probation violation.
His arrest overshadowed a recent collaboration with Ariana Grande.
