Chris Brown has been arrested on a probation violation, the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department has confirmed.
Captain Mike Parker has disclosed that Brown was taken into custody yesterday (March 14).
Parker told NBC News: “The reason for the probation violation is not provided in the arrest warrant so we do not know why.”
He is currently being held in a Los Angeles jail without bail.
Sources told TMZ that Brown’s arrest came about when he asked to leave a rehab facility for violating internal rules in an undisclosed incident that is not believed to be drug or violence-related.
Brown had been in the treatment centre for four months, prior to his apparent ejection yesterday (March 14).
His lawyer Mark Geragos has thus far issued no comment on the matter.
The musician was initially sent to rehab by the judge in his Rihanna assault cause, and his time in treatment was later extended while a separate assault cause in Washington DC is underway.
It was reported in late February that Brown had decided to extend his rehab tenure for unknown reasons.
